Nach dem Personalwechsel der dänischen MNEMIC konnte ich mit Gitarrist und Bandkopf Mircea ein kleines Mini-Interview zum Thema führen. Vielen Dank, Mircea!

Last day, Monday, September, 12th, we heard that your singer Michael left the group due to personal/familar reasons. Please tell us, how you reacted on that. Did you already know it for some time, or came it as suddenly as for the fans to the rest of the band?
– Well, Michael told us like 1 in half week in advance that he was going to leave the band. At that point we where not only chocked by his decision but also very sad, and we didnt really understand his decision. It kind of came out of the blue, and it definitely surprised us. We had to do a bandmeeting and we had to talk thing through. At this band meeting at thought that, that was it – on the contrary, the band did re-vamp and we all saw new opportunites in this, and everybody stated at the table that this is our lives and this is what we want to do for a living, we are here 110% and here to stay.

A new singer was announced with Tony Jelencovich. Is there any singer to compare Tony with? Many people may not know him these days, although he formerly was in Transport League and B-Thong.
– I hate to compare, and i actually dont want to compare cause i cant really think of anyone that sings like Tony. He has a unique voice, and that voice belongs to Tony Jelancovich – the thing is that he can do screams, he can do shouts and he could even be a death metal singer. The guy has his own cover bands, playing both Danzig and Pantera – if i really have to compare him, i would say Phil Anselmo, cause thats actually the clostest i can think of in vocal terms, and in personallity.

Can you imagine of hiring Michael back some day when things turn well again with him? How did you, as the guitarist of the band, handle this first singer change?
– Today Mnemic has had 3 singers. Its really weird. I mean we started out with Mark, which was a friends mine, and later on left. I brought Michael into the band, and now i suggested Tony to the band, and everybody agreed. I dont know if i would like to hire Michael back, i mean it all comes down to the situation. I dont want to throw Tony out of the band, once we have build something and are 100% happy with it, there’s no need in bringing Michael back. Michael had his chance , and i sure dont hope he is going to regret it, i wish him the best of luck with everything, but at the moment he is not coming back into the band, and we are not gonna change singers as we change our socks.

What can you tell us about the group’s work today? If I remembered correctly, you are working on your third album. Is there alerady a title or some song names?
– Well, i can tell you that we have some fast shit, some grovy shit and some spacy shit. The songs are turning out really good. No song titles yet or working titles (only stupid titles which i wont mention) – we just got a new singer, remember? ;-)

Finally the staff of Metal1.info likes to wish you all the best to manage this personal change as well as possible and go on recording cool records and make lots of fans happy on stage!
– Thanks for the interview, and good luck to you in the future – i am pretty sure of the next album is going to blow everybody away.
