Death metal will continue to rise, as many young metalcore fans are now discovering death metal and becoming fans, thus strenghtening an already strong core following. For all types of metal, I think 2007 will be another strong year, but death metal may have the strongest year of all. We will see!

FALLEN YGGDRASIL (Christoph; Schlagzeug & Simon Kratzer; ex-Sänger)
– Ereignis des Jahres
Christoph: Das Ereignis des Jahres war natürlich die Fußball-WM!!!
War einfach cool und hat sogar (fast) alle Fußballhasser in ihren Bann geschlagen. Ein ganzes Land im Ausnahmezustand. Hat nichts mit Metal zu tun, aber der lief ja nebenher. Wir hatten ja einige Konzerte während WM und auch während Spielen der deutschen Nationalmannschaft, und ich muss sagen, dass es alles coole Konzerte waren. War ja auch super – erst Fußball glotzen und sich dann die Birne von ein paar Bands abmontieren lassen, hehehe. Ich glaube übrigens, dass das Spiel gegen Schweden die besten 45 Minuten der deutschen Nationalmannschaft beinhaltet hat. So gut waren die Jungs noch nie (auch nicht bei der WM 1990, bei der sie eine wirklich gute Truppe waren).

– Höhepunkt des Jahres aus bandinterner Sichtweise
Christoph: Wir waren dieses Jahr nicht unbedingt vom Glück verfolgt, weswegen es eigentlich gar keinen richtigen Band-Höhepunkt gab. Am ehesten fällt mir dazu die Aufnahme der Promo-CD (Prospect Of Prey) im Januar ein, denn das hat wieder viel Spaß gemacht und wir sind mit dem Ergebnis auch nach wie vor sehr zufrieden.
Simon: Ich finde man kann sagen: „In no sense Innocence“ war noch die Suche nach unserem Stil; mit „Building“ war unser Stil festgelegt; mit „P.o.P“ haben wir auch den dazugehörigen Sound gefunden… Also ich hatte das Gefühl, mit „P.o.P“ da angekommen zu sein, wo wir immer hinwollten.

– Festival des Jahres
Christoph: Da wir dieses Jahr alle aus beruflichen oder privaten Gründen viel außerhalb der Band beschäftigt waren, kann ich da gar keine Aussage treffen. Ich persönlich war auf keinem einzigen Festival, als Gast, und bei den anderen Jungs sieht es ähnlich aus. Von den Festivals bei auf denen wir gespielt haben, möchte ich das Eisenwahn und das Ragnarök herausheben, da diese beiden Veranstaltungen sehr cool waren. Ich habe aber gehört, dass das Up From the Ground, das Party San und das Zabbaduschder Open Air wieder sehr gut gewesen sein sollen. Im nächsten Jahr wollen wir aber versuchen wieder mal auf ein paar Festivals zu gehen.

– Überraschung des Jahres
Christoph: Die Überraschung des Jahres war natürlich der Ausstieg unseres Sängers Simon. Glücklicherweise haben wir mit Matze nun einen Mann gefunden, mit dem wir (hoffentlich) bald dort anknüpfen können, wo wir mit Simon aufgehört haben. An dieser Stelle möchte ich noch feststellen, dass wir uns von Simon in aller Freundschaft getrennt haben (so wie es bei allen ehemaligen Fallen Yggdrasil Mitgliedern war) und er der Band weiterhin als 5. Mitglied zur Verfügung steht.
Simon: Ganz so überraschend war es für die Jungs aber, glaube ich, doch nicht. Ich hatte mich schon länger mit dem Gedanken um den Ausstieg herumgeschlagen, und es den Jungs auch schon recht bald angedeutet, dass es früher oder später zu der Entscheidung kommen wird. Letzten Endes war dann wohl weniger die Tatsache überraschend, sondern eher der Zeitpunkt. Mit Matze haben sie recht schnell einen guten Mann gefunden, das war für mich beruhigend. Ich habe die neue Besetzung am vergangenen Wochenende auch schon live gesehen, und kann sagen: Die Yggies werden auch in Zukunft live nichts anbrennen lassen. Matze braucht noch etwas Routine, das ist klar, aber er hat vor und neben sich ein absolut eingespieltes Team, das ihm ohne Probleme den Rücken freihalten wird, bis er selbst reingekommen ist.

– Newcomerband des Jahres
Christoph: Eine ziemlich schwere Frage, da ich momentan fast keine Zeit habe Musik zu hören und daher nicht den Überblick über die momentane Underground-Szene habe. Ich weiß aber, dass es eine ganze Fülle geiler Undergroundbands in Deutschland und speziell in Baden-Württemberg gibt. Da aber jetzt eine rauszupicken, wäre unfair, denn es sind genügend dabei, die das Zeug dazu hätten etwas mehr zu reißen.
Simon: Da hat er recht. Ich habe seit einigen Jahren ohnehin das Gefühl, als steige das Niveau im Underground ständig. Das sieht man daran, dass es immer weniger Bands gibt, die so richtig megaabgrundtief scheiße sind. Im schlimmsten Fall klauen sie schlecht oder sind langweilig (davon gibt es aber viele).Aber nur wenige sind so, dass man sagen möchte: „Äh, Jungs, wisst ihr was: Lasst es am besten ganz bleiben. Das wird eh nix mehr“. Statt dessen gibt es viele, die ihre Instrument gut beherrschen, sich Gedanken machen beim Songwriting, sich auch Mühe geben, auf der Bühne eine gute Show zu machen etc.

– Top5 Alben des Jahres
Christoph: Wieder schwer (siehe vorherige Frage). Hab sogar 6 Alben aus diesem Jahr zusammen bekommen, haha.

Das ist natürlich meine ganz persönliche Liste und abgesehen von Dismember und evtl. Illdisposed stände bei den anderen Yggies etwas komplett anderes.

– Musikalische Enttäuschungen des Jahres
Christoph: Die größte Enttäuschung, war wohl die allgemeine Situation bei uns in der Band. Durch den Ausstieg von Simon und einer 3-monatigen Afrika-Exkursion von Raffa (Gitarre) ging dieses Jahr einfach viel zu wenig bei Fallen Yggdrasil. Da wir anderen mit Studium oder Job ziemlich eingespannt waren (und sind), konnten wir viel weniger live spielen und weniger neue Songs schreiben, als wir es gerne hätten. Für das kommende Jahr geloben wir aber Besserung, hahaha.
Simon: He, schieb mir nicht die Schuld in die Schuhe – du warst auch ewig im Ausland & Raffa geht jetzt für einige Wochen in die Antarktis. Dagegen war der Zeitverlust meinetwegen ja wohl gering! ;-)

– persönliche Erwartungen für 2007
Neue Lieder schreiben und gegen Mitte/Ende des Jahres eine neue CD in Angriff nehmen. Desweiteren wollen wir viele Konzerte spielen und mit unserem neuen Sänger Matze wieder so eine Einheit werden, wie wir sie mit Simon in den letzten Jahren waren.

I will get to it, don\’t worry…

HEAVEN SHALL BURN (Matthias Voigt; Schlagzeug)

ob man es nun mochte oder nicht: die fußball-wm! einen monat mehr oder weniger ausnahmezustand. da konnte nichts mithalten.

– Höhepunkt des Jahres aus bandinterner Sichtweise.
das war ganz sicher die veröffentlichung von „deaf to our prayers“. an so einer scheibe arbeitet man ja eine ganze weile und wenn dann alles so klappt, wie geplant, ist das natürlich am ende mehr als zufriedenstellend.
es ist schon immer ein spannender moment, wenn eine neue platte auf die menschheit losgelassen wird und auch die ersten rückmeldungen eintrudeln.
selbst weis man am ende meist nicht mehr wirklich, ob man nun was gutes abgeliefert hat oder nicht. nach der ganzen arbeit ist man natürlich nicht objektiv und hat nicht den nötigen abstand. man selbst ist selbstverständlich immer zu 100% überzeugt, aber das erste feedback ist immer sehr interessant.

– Festival des Jahres
als besucher für mich das party.san. für uns als band waren alle festivals auf ihre art was besonderes. das fluff fest in tschchien, weil wir dort viele alte freunde getroffen haben und alles sehr familiär zuging. das metalcamp in slovenien, weil es für uns absolutes neuland war. das with full force und das summer breeze, weil es für uns so gut gelaufen ist und auch das ganze drumherum gestimmt hat.

I would say the continued growth and deepening on online communications and its effect on social relations.
Myspace, Youtube, etc are redefining the way we communicate is some ways, and it remains to be seen just how far along this trajectory we will go
before some new power structure enters the chaos to use these new media as a method of control.

I would definitely say, Aarhus Festuge. Aarhus is the city where bands such as Hatesphere and Illdisposed are from, and our good friend and producer Tue Madsen lives. During that week we mixed our album, and we attended the „Festuge“, which translates to „Party Week“. Basically getting drunk for a whole week in the city meeting friends and hanging out was definitely a highlight. Especially being away for such a long time, non-stop rehearsing and touring was definitely a good break for me.

– Highlight of the year from the band\’s point of view
Standing in the same recording booth with Jeff Walker (ex-Carcass) and Shane Embury (Napalm Death) recording guest vocals for the new album.

Sounds of the Underground – Watching Nergal from Behemoth fighting a big dragon, while Gwar playing and spewing blood all over the crowd.

Die Wiederentdeckung des Neumann-Drinks (ein 0,2l Glas, darein 4cl Wodka,
2cl Malibu, bis auf 4/5 mit Sekt auffüllen und noch ein Spritzer Orangensaft
dazu (für die Farbe)).
Man ist schon betrunken, bevor das Glas leer ist.

08.04 – Einzige Probe dieses Jahr bei der alle Bandmitglieder anwesend waren. Nach 4 langen Jahren des Rumbastelns endlich unsere neue CD „Ghost“ veröffentlicht.

Die Übernahme der Walpurgis Metal Days und ganz aktuell die Aufnahmen bzw. die Fertigstellung unseres neuen Albums „A PAGAN STORM“ dass am 07.04.2007 erscheinen wird.
