Bands like Primordial, Harakiri For The Sky or Rotting Christ show that good Black Metal does not only come from Scandinavia. Black Metal from Israel is still rather exotic. HAR come from Israel, release their second EP „Visitation“ these days and play harsh Black Metal with a trace of Death Metal. Guitarist Daniel took the time to answer some questions about the band, their current release and the concept behind HAR.
We are HAR, a 5-piece band from Tel Aviv City, Israel.
HAR means „mountain“in Hebrew. It is an obscure object that occurs in different cultures as a place for sacrificial rituals and black magic such as Walpurgisnacht. But also as a strategically good place in war. And it also sounds obscure…..
„Visitation“ as the appearence of a horrifying and sublime being, just sounds right to us as a general concept for this record and the way it builds up from the intro to the ending.
The writing process goes through every member in one way or another. It might happen that one of us will put forth the main theme.
In terms of lyrics the concepts revolve around gnosis and at the same time unleashing a bestial nature.
„Shadow Henosis“ will be then the practice of reaching a dark and negative unity through destruction and war.
In 2014 you released your first EP „Baal Ha’Ov“. How would you describe your development since then?
We were never compared to Melechesh. Not that we know about. Anyway some of us like their first two albums.
What is it like to be a Black Metal Band in Israel? Are you confronted with any problems?
I would like to end the interview with the traditional Metal1. info-Brainstorming: I’ll give you a few words, and you just tell me what you think of first:
- Trump
- Germany
- Fans
- Vinyl
- Har in 10 years
Fuck that Shit!
Thanks for the interview.
